17 June, 2019, Bengaluru: Professor V. Ravi Anshuman, IIMB faculty from the Finance & Accounting area, has been appointed a part-time member in the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), as per an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel.

The appointment of Prof. Anshuman to the post in SEBI, the regulator for the securities market in India, is for a period of three years, according to the order.

Prof. Anshuman has a PhD in Finance from the University of Utah and a B Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur. His research interests cover the areas of Market Microstructure, Capital Markets and Corporate Financial Management Issues in Emerging Markets. His publications have appeared in the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Markets, etc. He has co-authored a book titled, ‘Valuation – Analysing Global Investment Opportunities’. He has held academic positions at Boston College and visiting academic positions at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Indian School of Business and University of Texas at Austin.

In addition to experience in academia, Prof. Anshuman has consulted with various blue-chip companies. He is a member of the Certification Formulation and Testing Committee (CFTC) and Futures & Options (F&O) Executive Committee of the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
