Divya Dwivedi: 2026 Institute Research Award (PhD)

Hailing from Raebareli, a small town in Uttar Pradesh, Divya Dwivedi, recipient of the 2026 Institute Research Award (PhD), credits her values of perseverance, curiosity, and lifelong learning to her family. The daughter of a late district court advocate and a retired government school teacher, she has built an academic journey that combines technical excellence, industry experience, and a passion for impactful research. An alumna of IIT Kharagpur, she also brings seven years of industry experience in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, enriching her research with strong practical insights.

At IIM Bangalore, Divya discovered a nurturing ecosystem of faculty mentors and fellow researchers who inspired her to push the boundaries of inquiry and impact. Her academic journey has been recognized through the Mirae Asset Scholar Award for AY 2024-25 and the prestigious Professor Prakash G. Apte Research Award 2026, underscoring her dedication to scholarly excellence and meaningful research. Through her work, she seeks to deepen our understanding of human interactions with technology and generate insights that contribute to both academic knowledge and societal well-being. Balancing the roles of scholar, spouse, and mother, Divya has demonstrated remarkable commitment to academic excellence while pursuing research with relevance and impact.

Reflecting on her aspirations, she says, “I aspire to build a career in academia as both a researcher and an educator. My research focuses on understanding human behaviour around technology, exploring how technology can be harnessed for societal good, while also examining its unintended consequences and ways to address them. As a teacher, I hope to do more than impart knowledge. I want to shape the way students think, learn, and engage with the world around them.” With a commitment to rigorous research, impactful teaching, and continuous learning, Divya embodies the values of scholarly excellence and societal relevance that the Institute Research Award seeks to recognize.
