Paper authored by Doctoral student Ronit Neogy published in International Game Theory Review

Iimb

The paper is titled, ‘On Some Special Matrix Classes Useful in Optimization and Game Theory’

19 June, 2023, Bengaluru: A paper titled, ‘On Some Special Matrix Classes Useful in Optimization and Game Theory’, authored by Ronit Neogy, second year student of IIM Bangalore’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, from before the time he joined the IIMB programme, has been published in the International Game Theory Review (ABDC-B).

Congratulating Ronit, Prof. Ananth Krishnamurthy, Chairperson, Doctor of Philosophy and faculty in the Decision Sciences area of IIMB, said, “I encourage him to work towards higher research productivity in his field.”

Prof. Soudeep Deb of the Decision Sciences area of IIMB said, “This is a sole-authored paper and is a testament to his abilities for conducting independent research.”

Abstract of paper:

The well-known problem of checking copositivity is equivalent to solving a quadratic optimization problem over the standard simplex. This paper presents some results related to the well-known matrix classes like copositive, semimonotone matrices discussed in the literature for many years. The research relates some important theorems of alternatives with the class of copositive-plus and copositive-star matrices. Finally, it revisits the classes of almost copositive, semimonotone matrices and obtains some new results which are useful in optimization theory. Finally, some game theoretic characterizations of these special class of matrices are presented.
