Supply Chain Management Centre to host the Climate Innovation Summit on 28 and 29 May 2026

Two-day conference at IIMB to accelerate India’s progress toward Viksit Bharat 2047 and Net Zero 2070

21 May, 2026, Bengaluru: The TCI-IIMB Supply Chain Sustainability Lab, under the Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) at IIM Bangalore, in partnership with Net Zero Think, will host the Climate Innovation Summit 2026 on 28 and 29 May. The two-day summit will explore pathways to accelerating India’s transition to a low-carbon economy under the theme, ‘Accelerating India’s Pathways to Net-Zero for Viksit Bharat’.

Bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and the investment ecosystem, the summit will serve as a platform for conversations on clean technology adoption, industrial decarbonization, green finance and pathways to net-zero, led by 70+ domain experts.

Day one of the conference will begin with welcome addresses by Prof. Rajeev R. Tripathi, Chairperson, SCMC, and faculty of the Production and Operations Management area at IIMB, followed by Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Founder, Net Zero Think. Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge, IIMB, will deliver the opening remarks.

Krushna Chandra Panigrahy, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and IAS Manu Srivastava from the Department of Energy, M.P., will deliver keynote addresses to mark the occasion. Erik Solheim, Former Executive Director, UNEP, will share a recorded message.

Day 1

The first session on ‘Power Sector Transformation – Renewables, Storage & Grid Flexibility’ will feature Dr. Umakanta Panda, Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC), followed by a presentation by Rishu Garg, Senior Policy Specialist, CSTEP. A panel discussion on the same theme will feature Bharat Saxena, CEO, Inox Clean Energy; Pratyush Thakur, Investment Director & Country Head, Blueleaf Energy; Kishor Nair, CEO, Avaada Energy; Naveen Khandelwal, CEO, Yanara; Arne Lorenzen, Advisor, PowerCurve Aps (joining virtually); and Abhishek Nath, Sector Head – Energy and Power, CSTEP, as the moderator.

The third session of the day on ‘Decarbonising India's Buildings & Infrastructure’ will feature a session address by Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact India Network, followed by a panel discussion on the same, bringing together Dr. Kurian Joseph, Professor of Environmental Engineering, Anna University; Vijay Kumar, Associate GM - ESG, Brigade Group; Suresh Vasant Patil, CEO, India Cements Limited; and Gagan Kechira, Senior Manager, Colliers, as the moderator.

A panel discussion on the same, moderated by Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Sr. Scientist, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will bring together Prasad Dahapute, Founder, Varhad Group; M. Karunakar Reddy, Founder, Igniting Minds; Lt. Col. Monish Ahuja, Founder, PRESPL; and Aniruddh Soni, Fellow, TERI.

A key feature of the summit will be its curated Policy Dialogues and Roundtables. These closed-door sessions will bring together CXOs, policymakers, regulators, researchers, and investors to facilitate strategic partnerships and develop actionable roadmaps for India’s Net Zero transition. Themes for the same include ‘Climate Finance & Carbon Markets for India's Net-Zero Vision’, ‘Role of Storage for Commercial & Industrial Consumers’, and ‘The ESG Implementation Journey of Enterprises’.

During the concluding session of the Climate Innovation Summit, panellists will deliberate on the subject ‘Scaling Forestry, Agroforestry & Nature-Based Carbon Removal’.

The first session on ‘Power Sector Transformation – Renewables, Storage & Grid Flexibility’ will feature Dr. Umakanta Panda, Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC), followed by a presentation by Rishu Garg, Senior Policy Specialist, CSTEP. A panel discussion on the same theme will feature Bharat Saxena, CEO, Inox Clean Energy; Pratyush Thakur, Investment Director & Country Head, Blueleaf Energy; Kishor Nair, CEO, Avaada Energy; Naveen Khandelwal, CEO, Yanara; Arne Lorenzen, Advisor, PowerCurve Aps (joining virtually); and Abhishek Nath, Sector Head – Energy and Power, CSTEP, as the moderator.

The second panel, consisting of Srinivasulu IFS, Principal Secretary, Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, Government of Karnataka; Rejini Simpson, Programme Director, Centre of Environment Education (CEE); and J Santosh Kumar, Former Rajya Sabha Member and Founder, Green India Challenge, will deliberate on the theme ‘Rethinking Climate Federalism: Rewiring Policy, Practice, and Innovation for Local Action’, with Judith Weinberger-Singh, Resident Representative, Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung India, as the moderator.

The third session of the day on ‘Decarbonising India's Buildings & Infrastructure’ will feature a session address by Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact India Network, followed by a panel discussion on the same, bringing together Dr. Kurian Joseph, Professor of Environmental Engineering, Anna University; Vijay Kumar, Associate GM - ESG, Brigade Group; Suresh Vasant Patil, CEO, India Cements Limited; and Gagan Kechira, Senior Manager, Colliers, as the moderator.

Up next is the fourth session of the evening on ‘Metal & Mining Transition – Pathways to Low-Carbon Steel, Aluminum & Critical Minerals’, which will feature Upendra Tripathy IAS, Ex Indian Administrator, for a session address, and Dr. Saurabh Kundu, Chief Sustainability Officer, Tata Steel; Naveen Ahlawat, President & Head – Sustainability & Decarbonization, Jindal Steel Ltd.; Dr. Sunil Duggal, CEO, Bhumi Ventures; Sanjiv Paul, Fellow, Mission Possible Partnership; Yash Agarwal, Co-Founder, Carbonetics Carbon Capture; and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Founder, Net Zero Think, as moderator for a panel discussion.

Marking the end of day one of the conference are thematic addresses by Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, Astronaut, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and PGP ’97 alumnus Hemant Soreng, Founder of Rustik Travel.

Day 2

Day two will begin with a series of special addresses by Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Visiting Professor, IIT Bombay, and Venu Gopal, Consultant, NITI Aayog, who will be joining virtually. A talk by Binu Parthan, Deputy Director – Country Engagement and Partnerships, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), will follow before concluding with an address by Prof. R Srinivasan, Chairperson, Centre for Digital Public Goods (CDPG) and faculty of the Strategy area at IIMB.

Dr. Anita Gupta, Former Head of Scientific Division, Climate, Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CEST) at the Department of Science & Technology, GOI, will deliver the next session under the theme ‘Innovation in Wind, Solar, Hydrogen, Battery & Bioenergy’. A panel discussion to follow will convene Dr. PKC Bose, Chairman, Cambi India; Raghunath K R, Founder & CEO, KIS Group; Dr. Vikram Vishal, Co-Founder, Director & CEO, UrjanovaC Pvt. Ltd; Neeraj Nachiketa, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India; and Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Founder, Net Zero Think, as the moderator.

The panel on ‘Sustainable Transportation for Net Zero World’ will first feature a session address by Dr. Aditya Gupta, COO, Supply Chain Management Centre, IIMB, followed by a discussion convening Krishnamurthy, Advisor, GE; Pravin Dongre, Executive Director (Sus Dev), Indian Oil Corporation Limited; Saurabh Palsania, Joint President, Shree Cement Ltd; with Dr. Aditya serving as the moderator.

The following session on ‘Scaling Forestry, Agroforestry & Nature-Based Carbon Removal’ will showcase insights from Radhakrishna Deshraju, Former Chairman, Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission, and Ashwani Gautam, Founder, AIVI. A panel discussion on the same, moderated by Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Sr. Scientist, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), will bring together Prasad Dahapute, Founder, Varhad Group; M. Karunakar Reddy, Founder, Igniting Minds; Lt. Col. Monish Ahuja, Founder, PRESPL; and Aniruddh Soni, Fellow, TERI.

A key feature of the summit will be its curated Policy Dialogues and Roundtables. These closed-door sessions will bring together CXOs, policymakers, regulators, researchers, and investors to facilitate strategic partnerships and develop actionable roadmaps for India’s Net Zero transition. Themes for the same include ‘Climate Finance & Carbon Markets for India's Net-Zero Vision’, ‘Role of Storage for Commercial & Industrial Consumers’, and ‘The ESG Implementation Journey of Enterprises’.

During the concluding session of the Climate Innovation Summit, panellists will deliberate on the subject ‘Scaling Forestry, Agroforestry & Nature-Based Carbon Removal’.

The concluding session of the two-day conference will feature insights from Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Former Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
