Team Alpha Managers from IIMB wins national finals of world’s largest venture capital investment competition VCIC

The team of second-year MBA students comprising Anay Dalal, Jugal Shah, Piyush Kabra, Pratik Amrutkar and Samir Shah, will represent India at the VCIC Global Finals in April 2021

02 February, 2021, Bengaluru: The Alpha Managers, a team of second-year MBA students from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) comprising Anay Dalal, Jugal Shah, Piyush Kabra, Pratik Amrutkar and Samir Shah, has won the national finals of the 2021 edition of VCIC, the world’s largest venture capital investment competition. The winning team will now represent India at the VCIC Global Finals in April 2021, which will be hosted by the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. The Global VCIC competition attracts participation of top MBA students from more than 70 prestigious business schools across the world.

The India leg of the competition was hosted by IIM Bangalore and saw participation of teams from India’s top business schools - IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, Indian School of Business and Faculty of Management Studies. During the competition, students played the role of venture capitalists and evaluated start-ups, interacted with entrepreneurs, analyzed their businesses and presented investment rationale to judges from top VC firms such as Chiratae Ventures and Fireside Ventures. The three start-ups that teams evaluated were Byers (which provides digital solution for kirana stores), Robo Bionics (which provides bionic arms for amputees) and Valerio Electric (which provides EV charging solutions).
