Summary

Professor Sayan Sarkar joined IIM Bangalore as an Assistant Professor in the Entrepreneurship Area in December 2025. Prior to joining IIM Bangalore, he was a faculty member at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for four years. Sayan received a PhD in Strategy & Entrepreneurship from London Business School; PGDM (MBA) from IIM Ahmedabad; and B.Tech. from IIT Kharagpur. Prior to joining academia, he worked in the consulting, pharmaceutical, and automative industries.

His research focuses on entrepreneurial finance, ventures’ use of digital resources, disadvantaged entrepreneurs, and communicating novel ideas. His research has been published in the Academy of Management Journal and recognized by grant bodies such as the Hong Kong Research Grants Council.
