CDPG at IIMB and Department of Posts sign MoU to develop framework for DIGIPIN

Collaboration aims to build a robust, interoperable digital address infrastructure to support citizen-centric service delivery at scale

28 July, 2025, Bengaluru: Professor R. Srinivasan, Chairperson, Center for Digital Public Goods (CDPG), IIM Bangalore, and Mr. Vikas Kumar Daksh, Deputy Director General, Postal Operations, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Mr. Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations), Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, on 25 July 2025.

The collaboration focuses on the development of a concept paper and a detailed paper for DIGIPIN, a key component of India’s emerging Digital Address Ecosystem. The initiative seeks to establish a robust Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in the form of a standardized, interoperable, and geocoded addressing system that can enable seamless, citizen-centric delivery of public and private services nationwide.

The proposed framework will elaborate on the myriad use-cases for DIGIPIN, set up the Department of Post’s Address-as-a-Service, and elucidate strategies for development, deployment and its wider adoption at a population scale.
