24 JANUARY, 2022: The thirteenth edition of the IMR Doctoral Conference (IMRDC) was held, in virtual mode, on 20, 21 & 22 January, 2022. IMRDC 2022 saw three days of select paper presentations and critiques, and stimulating keynote addresses by eminent and well-published researchers. The Co-Chairs of IMRDC 2022 were Professor Tirthatanmoy Das of the Economics & Social Sciences area and Professor Rajeev R Tripathi of the Productions & Operations Management area of IIM Bangalore.
The IMRDC is a pre-eminent annual doctoral colloquium in Management Science and associated disciplines, co-organised by IIMB Management Review, IIM Bangalore’s flagship academic quarterly and the Office of the Doctoral Programme of the institute. IMRDC aims to promote research and scholarship among Indian and international doctoral students in Management Science. It also serves as a forum where established scholars and academics interact with students and provide academic feedback, suggestions, and professional development advice.

A total of 12 papers were selected for presentation, from among 75 submissions from top management and social science institutes, after three rounds of rigorous review

‘One exclusive discussant per paper’ format. Each paper saw a dedicated discussant critique the paper presentation and offer comments and constructive feedback.

IMRDC 2022 Best Paper Award was won by Tanya Jain, a doctoral scholar in the Economics & Social Sciences area of IIM Bangalore, for her presentation, ‘Debt contract enforcement and product innovation: Evidence from a legal reform in India’

The Best Critique Award for doctoral students of IIMB was won jointly by Anupama Kondayya of the OB/HRM area and Himanshu Shekhar of the Strategy area
Professor Haritha Saranga, Chairperson, Doctoral Programme, IIMB, commended the pre-doctoral and doctoral student volunteers for their invaluable support in making IMRDC 2022 a success. Professor Chetan Subramanian, Dean Faculty, noted that the award-winning papers at the last two editions of IMRDC had gone on to be published in top-tier journals. Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIMB, in his brief address at the valedictory, described the IMR Doctoral Conference as an enabling and nurturing space for relevant and rich research opportunities for doctoral scholars in the country, thus reaffirming its standing as a niche and benchmark event among the doctoral student community in Management and associated disciplines.
