19 August, 2025, Bangalore: IIMB will host the inauguration and orientation of the 22nd batch of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) on 23 August 2025. The sessions will be conducted in a hybrid format. The keynote address will be delivered by PGPPM 2005 alumnus Shri. Devesh Chaturvedi, IAS – UP-1989, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The plenary policy talk will be presented by Dr. Tina Nabatchi, Joseph A. Strasser Endowed Professor in Public Administration at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York. The sessions will be held at Classroom Q-101, IIMB.
On 21 and 22 August 2025, registration formalities will be conducted online by the Admissions and PGPPM Office. The incoming participants will also attend a session on ‘Learning and Teaching via the Case Method,’ conducted by Professor Sourav Mukherji, Dean, Faculty & Dean, Alumni Relations and Development.
The inauguration of the PGPPM batch of 2025-26, scheduled for 23 August 2025 in Classroom Q-101 (hybrid mode), will begin with a welcome and inaugural address by Professor Arnab Mukherji, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy & Management. This will be followed by a session on ‘Policy Context at IIMB’ by Professor Gopal Naik, Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy.

Keynote Address by Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi
The keynote session will be delivered by Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS, 1989 batch).
Dr. Chaturvedi is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIM Bangalore, and IIT Delhi (PhD), and a recipient of the Directors’ Gold Medal at IIMB. Over his illustrious career, he has served in leadership roles both in the Uttar Pradesh state government and the Government of India, including District Magistrate, Commissioner of Allahabad Division (managing the Kumbh Mela 2013), Principal Secretary Agriculture, Joint Secretary (DoPT), and Director General in the Ministry of Tourism. Since August 2024, he has been serving as Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, shaping key policies at the national level. His keynote will share lessons from decades of public service to the incoming cohort.
Plenary Talk by Dr. Tina Nabatchi
The inauguration plenary talk on ‘Of Clocks and Clouds: Addressing Public Problems in the 21st Century’ will be delivered by Dr. Tina Nabatchi, Joseph A. Strasser Endowed Professor in Public Administration, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York. Her talk will bring a global perspective on how societies can approach complex and evolving governance challenges.
Dr. Tina is a leading global voice in citizen participation, collaborative governance, conflict resolution, and public administration. Her award-winning publications, including ‘Addressing the Citizenship and Democratic Deficits: Exploring the Potential of Deliberative Democracy for Public Administration’ and ‘The New Governance: Practices and Processes for Stakeholder and Citizen Participation in the Work of Government,’ have shaped the field of governance studies worldwide.
