At ‘Sparsh’, alumni of EPGP visit IIMB to strengthen ties with their alma mater and relive their student days

19 FEBRUARY, 2023: The Office of the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and the EPGP Student Alumni Committee hosted ‘Sparsh’, the annual EPGP alumni meet, on 18th February 2023. Sparsh is a day-long networking event that keeps EPGP alumni connected to each other and to the institute.

Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, inaugurated the event and welcomed alumni back to the campus. He congratulated them for their achievements and thanked them for playing a significant role in the program gaining global recognition.

Prof. Ashok Thampy, Chairperson, EPGP, and faculty in the Finance & Accounting area at IIMB, thanked the alumni for creating value for their organizations and society. He also shared with them the achievements of the current batch.

Sukanya Roy, Head GCC & BPM, NASSCOM, Rajat Mathur, Partner, BCG, and Amit Chhabra, Head of Sales, Shell India, featured as panelists in a discussion on ‘Career Progression and Work-Life Balance’. The panel was moderated by Prof. Abhoy Ojha, faculty in the OB& HRM area at IIMB. “Prioritize, Give Control and Build Trust to achieve this balance,” said Amit Chhabra.

Prof. R. Narayanaswamy, former faculty in the Finance and Accounting area at IIMB, delivered a special lecture on Corporate Governance, the role of shareholders, board of directors, and chairpersons in a multi-national corporation. He also touched upon the role of CXOs in establishing a system of rules, best practices and internal controls. “Accountability, transparency, fairness, responsibility and risk management must be key focus areas,” he said.

After a campus walk to relieve good times, the alumni then played spirited games of shuttle badminton and table tennis at the sports complex. The event came to a close with a music performance (solo and group) by the current batch of students and an ‘antakshari’ contest between the alumni and current students.
