BAICONF 2022: Data Centre and Analytics Lab at IIMB bring together analytics professionals

18 DECEMBER, 2022: The 9th International Conference on Business Analytics and Intelligence was hosted by IIMB from December 15-17, 2022. The BAI conference is one of the most prestigious gatherings for academicians and practitioners. The role of analytics in solving business problems has increased manifold in recent years. Analytics, Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning Technologies have become a competitive strategy for many companies.

Through this conference, the Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL) at IIM Bangalore provides a platform for analytics professionals to create and disseminate knowledge in the field of analytics. This conference is an apt platform to understand applications of Analytics, Big Data, AI, ML and DL in various disciplines of management, and how they are being used to solve domain- and sector-specific problems.

At this year’s conference, we had a fantastic line-up of more than 15 speakers from academia and industry covering a range of relevant topics from technology to business, opportunities and challenges.

Professor U Dinesh Kumar also led a high-powered panel discussion on Data Storytelling along with other eminent speakers, followed by a fireside chat.

As a response to our call for abstracts, we had upwards of 450 abstract submissions of which 200 papers were selected for presentation. In the end, more than 150 papers were presented over the three days.

Prior to the conference, there were pre-conference workshops on “Machine Learning Operations” and “Data Visualization and Storytelling”. In all, more than + participants from academia and industry benefited from the workshops.

We had 7 sponsors for the event – International Skill Development Corporation and JP Morgan Chase and Co. as Platinum sponsors; Analytics Society of India and MiQ as Gold sponsors; and Falabella, IBM and Operations Research Society of India as Silver sponsors.

We have put together a short video to brief the conference, which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/RB7AJLeVHWc
