Chief Guest’s address

Shri T V Narendran listed the three main changes that the graduating students need to focus on as being on the geopolitical landscape, technology, and sustainability and climate change. “The centre of gravity of economic activity has shifted to Asia, which will have a huge impact on industries, supply chains, economies and geopolitics. The next few decades will be about India. Keep a focus on these changes, the resultant challenges and opportunities, and the impact all this will have on your careers.”

“Do keep adapting to new technology to stay current. Remember that AI and other technology can change, disrupt, create and destroy jobs. In the coming years, it will be crucial for corporate enterprises to build trust in society in terms of sustainability and climate change, in the face of cost and other complexities, to bring about equitable and inclusive growth,” he said.

“Your ability to learn from your experiences, deal with success and failure, and improve yourselves, will be crucial. How you handle people in your professional and personal life, will be another deciding factor. Connect with people, listen to them and translate that ability to build trust, authenticity and credibility. Be passionate about whatever you do – it is a journey of discovery in order to pursue excellence, as your purpose will define you. These are critical to have long and successful careers. Make your parents and the Institute proud,” he said.

Chairperson’s message

Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIM Bangalore, congratulated the Institute on its “brilliant” national and global rankings, and more. Talking about IIMB’s digital learning initiative IIMBx, he said, “IIMBx’s offering on Hospital Management is going to be a boon for the country since it is designed for participants to be equipped for the future healthcare industry in India, enabling them to administer hospitals in a smooth and efficient manner.”

While wishing the graduating students the very best for their future, Dr. Devi Shetty pointed out that at some point in their careers when they consider entrepreneurship, they need to keep in mind few things. “You need to ponder over what to do, how to do and why to do. The ‘why’ is most important because it will define the purpose of your actions. Hence, think of the why, before the other two, because the power of purpose is crucial. Second, reinvent yourself every five years. And last but not the least, express your love and gratitude to your parents.”
