IIM Bangalore celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti with joyful expressions of gratitude and inclusivity
Led by the Students’ Affairs Council, the celebration brought together students and the children of non-staff members through art, reflection, and the spirit of community.
November 5, 2025, Bangalore: The L-Square at IIM Bangalore came alive with colour, laughter, and connection as the Students’ Affairs Council organized a special celebration of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The event captured Guru Nanak’s message of Langar, equality, and togetherness through art, reflection, and shared experiences that embodied gratitude and community spirit. Prof. Manaswini Bhalla, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Management and PGP in Business Analytics, and Prof. Rajluxmi V Murthy, Chairperson, Student Welfare, were present at the event.
The festivities began with a Canvas Art Workshop led by the Fine Arts Society of IIM Bangalore, where children painted alongside students. Guided by the spirit of learning through creation, blank canvases evolved into vivid expressions of imagination and shared hope.
Adding a thoughtful dimension to the day, Amaha, IIMB’s mental healthcare partner, curated a series of emotion-focused activities blending playfulness with introspection. Through their sessions, participants were reminded that celebration can also be an act of mindfulness.
A balloon art activity served as a joyful icebreaker, inviting children to play freely and express their ideas. Among Amaha’s reflective exercises, “Letter to Your 10-Year-Old Self” encouraged participants to pause and look inward, acknowledging personal growth with gratitude and kindness. In “Draw Your Calm,” participants explored what calmness meant to them personally, using art as a means of self-discovery. Whether through colour, motion, or stillness, the exercise became a creative meditation on inner peace.
Sharing thoughts on the initiative, an Amaha representative said, “Our hope is simple: to nurture calmness, kindness, and joy. As the year draws to a close, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect, find hope, and remember that community and support are all around.”
The event concluded with performances of poems and songs by children. Each activity added rhythm and joy to the spirit of the day, rounding off the celebration with warmth and togetherness. It left a lasting sense of connection, reflection, and gratitude, echoing Guru Nanak’s message of equality, compassion, and service.
The celebration reaffirmed IIM Bangalore’s commitment to inclusivity, emotional well-being, and the collective spirit that defines its vibrant campus community.
