Padma Bhushan for Dr K Radhakrishnan (PGP ’76)

Dr. K Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and alumnus of IIMB's PGP batch of 1976, was awarded the Padma Bhushan on January 26, 2014. He said he was grateful to the Indian government for the honour. "The honour goes to the entire ISRO team," he remarked.

Dr. K Radhakrishnan had been conferred with the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010. He has also served as the director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.  Currently, as chief of the country's Space programme, he has been spearheading ISRO's focus on undertaking space science missions and interplanetary explorations, including Chandrayaan-2 and Indian Human Spaceflight initiatives.

Apart from his scientific genius, Dr. Radhakrishnan is an accomplished vocalist (Carnatic music) and a kathakali dancer.
