IIMB student gets India's first ever Summer Fellowship on Sustainability
As part of the just concluded summer internship placements at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore one student of IIMB secured an internship with ITC Infotech - Earthwatch for their sustainability initiative.
"This is a welcome first-of-its kind development because it primes B-school students to engage with important issues like sustainability," said Professor Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIMB.
"It was really encouraging to see the response for this Fellowship. With Sustainability and Climate Change regulations becoming part of board room discussions within corporates worldwide, there is an increasing need to develop skills and capabilities in managing both opportunities and risks in this space going forward. Such pioneering fellowships provide a great opportunity for the bright young minds to appreciate and understand new realities facing the corporate world," said Dr Rajesh Nair, Global Practice Head, Sustainability Consulting and Solutions Group at ITC Infotech.
The Summer Fellowships on Sustainability are an innovative and pioneering effort to get students of management to engage with important sustainability and public policy issues.
This unique programme organised in a partnership mode between ITC Infotech, Earthwatch and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore as a part of the Summer Internship Programme of the Institute will focus on water issues in the first year and will be hosted by ITC Infotech's Sustainability Solutions and Consulting Group and Earthwatch Institute India jointly.
Apart from the regular stipends on offer the selected candidate would also be awarded a special certificate of achievement by the Earthwatch Institute.
