IIMB alum scales new heights: Hemant Albert Soreng reaches Mount Everest summit

6 June, 2024, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore alumni have always made the institute proud through their significant contributions towards nation building, industry leadership, globalization and society. This time, IIMB alumnus Hemant Albert Soreng literally scaled new heights, by reaching the summit of Mount Everest on 22 May 2024.
Hemant is an alum of IIMB’s two-year full time MBA: Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), batch of 1997, and Co-founder of Rustik Travel Ventures, a sustainable experiential travel company.
An adventurer, in 2021-22 during the pandemic, he travelled across all the 28 states in India by car over a period of six months in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Moreover, he is an author, biker, scuba diver, filmmaker, ironman triathlete, mountaineer, podcaster and marathoner.
Thanking everyone who have contributed towards his success, Hemant says, “My alma mater IIM Bangalore helped me gain lifelong friendships and relationships with fellow students and alumni.”
Upon his safe return from the expedition despite injuries, he says that the journey has reinforced his belief in the conservation of natural resources and sustainability.
Congratulating Hemant on his extraordinary achievement, Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, said, “It is really wonderful to see the versatility of our alumni and the different ways in which they leave a mark.”
