Distinguished Alumnus Awards 2010 conferred

The Distinguished Alumnus Awards for 2010 were conferred at a function held on the occasion of the Thirty-Seventh Foundation Day at IIMB, on October 28, 2010.

Coordinated by the IIM Bangalore Alumni Association, the Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) is given every year to selected alumni of IIMB who have excelled in industry or academia and have contributed to society.

This year, three alumni of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) of IIMB were felicitated: Dr K Radhakrishnan- PGP '76, Mr Ramanujam Sridhar- PGP '82 and Professor Aswath Damodaran- PGP '79.

Dr K Radhakrishnan- PGP '76

There are scientists and then there is Dr Radhakrishnan. He is more than the sum of his scientific achievements. An outstanding space scientist and presently the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dr Radhakrishnan is one of the brains behind the development of the highly anticipated Chandrayaan 2. But one less advertised aspect of this scientist is his keen interest in the arts. He is well versed in both Carnatic music and is a Kathakali dancer.

Mr Ramanujam Sridhar- PGP '82

It takes astute marketing to make a product a brand. And no one knows this better than Ramanujam Sridhar. A brand in the field of advertising himself he has scripted many a success story for firms like Mudra and then Quadrant advertising. Sridhar is now the founder and CEO of Brand Comm, a much sought after marketing communications company. He has also penned brand building books like "One land, one billion minds" and the sequel "Googly. Branding on Indian Turf."

Professor Aswath Damodaran- PGP '79

Professor Damodaran is considered to be an expert on the subject of valuation. He has several top notch books on equity valuation, corporate finance, and investments to his credit.  According to Business Week, he is one of the top 12 US business school professors.  Presently, he is a Finance Professor at the Stern School of Business at New York University.

The Distinguished Alumnus Award (DAA) was instituted in 2007. Mr. Arun Balakrishnan PGP'76, Mr. Ashok Sinha PGP'77, Mr. MS Zahed PGP'76, Mr. Vasant Tilak Naik PGP'82, Mr. N Ravi PGP'82, Mr. Ramesh Venkateswaran, Mr. Padmanabhan PGP'82 are the earlier winners.
