‘To master the art of communication, it is vital to know where to stop’: Rajat Sharma at Vista 2016
Popular TV show host appeals to youngsters that upon reaching their dream space in life, they should come forward to sponsor at least one needy student
24 September, 2016, Bengaluru: Rajat Sharma, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, India TV and host of the popular TV show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, recounted his own experiences of struggle and success to share the important life lessons that he has learnt, with the young people at Vista 2016, here today.
He said that although he faced a lot of struggle all through his growing up years, financial and otherwise, he learnt that one needs to draw inspiration from one’s struggles, be happy and not lose hope. “Living your life will never be easy, without struggle no one will ever achieve great heights of success, but you need to draw strength in the face of hardships. Do not be scared of adversities - and you will attain the kind of success you want to.”
Recalling that his father’s words inspired him to choose television as a career, he said that, “You should always dream, dreams that don’t even let you sleep, but at the same time make sure that you prepare yourself to achieve that dream”.
Highlighting some of the key lessons that he himself has imbibed, he stated that there was no substitute to hard work. “Concentrate on the work in hand and don’t digress. There should not be any hypocrisy and you should speak your mind and beliefs. Be determined, be committed and serve people with integrity and honesty. Also, be humble -- people’s love can become your strength.” Talking about the importance of mastering the art of communication, he stressed that it is also vital to know where to stop.
Reflecting on the fact that nothing lasts forever, he advised the audience to live and contribute to ‘today’ to the fullest. “I wish that all of you attain the kind of success you desire. But when you reach the stars, come forward and sponsor at least one needy student and help him academically. Then I will feel that my coming here today was worthwhile”, he said amidst loud applause.
