IIM Bangalore Teams Shine in CoBS Global Voice Magazine Issue 36

Students and faculty from IIM Bangalore have earned international recognition in the latest edition of Global Voice Magazine (Issue 36), published by the Council on Business & Society (CoBS). The special Summer 2026 issue showcases the winners, runners-up, and finalists of the prestigious CoBS Case Development Competition, highlighting innovative perspectives on sustainability, ESG, corporate social responsibility, and social impact.

Faculty Achievement

Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean, Faculty, OBHRM area, IIMB, contributed the thought leadership article ‘Profit with Purpose: Innovations from the Global South’, offering research-backed insights into purpose-driven business models that create both social impact and financial value.

Student Achievement

PGP students from the Class of 2027 at IIM Bangalore, Anysha Kumar and Rishi Shrimal, emerged as winners with their case study, Beyond Charity: Lemon Tree’s Business Case for Inclusion'. The article examines how Lemon Tree Hotels transformed a chance hiring of an employee with disabilities into a comprehensive diversity and inclusion strategy, demonstrating the business value of inclusive employment practices.

In the runners-up category, PhD scholars Sanchit Jain from the Finance & Accounting area and Biswapriya Saha from the Strategy area at IIM Bangalore were recognised for their case study, ‘Beyond the Bin: What Bare Necessities Reveals About the Future of Responsible Business in India’. Their research explores how Bare Necessities, India’s first FMCG company to achieve B Corp certification, successfully integrates people, planet, and profit into its business model.

IIM Bangalore also featured among the finalists, with PGP alumni from the Class of 2026, Rakesh Shanmugam and Nitin Kumar, presenting ‘The ESG Paradox: When Costs Rise, Conviction Stands’, a case examining Tata Power’s enduring commitment to sustainability despite shifting global ESG priorities.

The achievements reflect IIM Bangalore’s continued commitment to fostering rigorous research, responsible leadership, and impactful scholarship that addresses pressing global challenges.
