PhD students who won scholarships, cleared the Comprehensive Exam in 2023 and Student Academic Committee members were felicitated during the program
5 October, 2023, Bengaluru: The Office of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme of IIM Bangalore hosted a Scholarship Recognition Function felicitating the doctoral students, from 12.30 pm on 5th October 2023, at the Yoga Hall (MDC) of the institute.
The felicitation program included: recognition of PhD Student Scholarship winners, recognition of students who cleared the Comprehensive Examination in 2023, and recognition of PhD Student Academic Committee (SAC) members.
The felicitation program was attended by Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, Deans, other faculty, students and staff of IIM Bangalore. Also present were Narayan P S, Global Head – Sustainability and Social Initiatives, Wipro Ltd. and Nimesh Nair from the Mirae Asset Foundation, who awarded the scholarships to the students, along with Prof. R T Krishnan.
The Doctoral Programme Committee members include IIMB professors Ananth Krishnamurthy, Chairperson, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and faculty of the Decision Sciences area; Rejie George Pallathitta of the Strategy area; G Shainesh, Chairperson, Initiatives on Consumer Insights and faculty of the Marketing area; Srivardhini K Jha, Chairperson, NSRCEL and faculty of the Entrepreneurship area; Tarun Jain, Chairperson, Supply Chain Management Centre as well as Chairperson and faculty, Production & Operations Management area, and Tirthatanmoy Das, Chairperson and faculty, Economics area.
Scholarships & Fellowships
Shubham Singh (POM area) received the Mirae Asset Scholars Award. His Dissertation Advisory Committee (DAC) Chair is Prof. D Krishna Sundar of the Production & Operations Management area.
Ayesha Arora (POM area) received the Mirae Asset Scholars Award, and her DAC Chair is Prof. Tarun Jain.
Himanshu Shekhar (Strategy area) was awarded the Wipro Sustainability Fellowship, and his DAC Chair is Prof. P D Jose of the Strategy area.
Subhankar Saha (POM area) received the Wipro Sustainability Fellowship, and his DAC Chair is Prof. Haritha Saranga, Chairperson, Sustainability Taskforce and faculty of the POM area.
Mareeswaran M (F&A area) is the winner of the JR Fellowship Award, and his DAC Chair is Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chairperson, Real Estate Research Initiative (RERI) and faculty of the Finance & Accounting area.
Comprehensive Examination
The Comprehensive Examination is an important milestone of the PhD journey. The students who cleared the Comprehensive Examination in 2023 include Chinmay Jayant Divekar, Kunal Rai and Boggadi Sudheer Kumar Reddy of the Decision Sciences area; Kunal Biswas, Sai Vivek Kandimalla and Sabhya Rai of the Economics area; Bidisha Bhattacharjee and Charu Rastogi of the Entrepreneurship area; M Joel Christopher and Sanchit Jain of the F&A area; Pon Rahul M and Manisha Rathi of the IS area; Midhila K S of the Marketing area; Anshul Kapoor and Harshith PD of the OB & HRM area; Karthik Ramaswamy, Satyajit Roy and Shiril Saju of the POM area; Gopinath Annadurai and Swetcha Poladi of the Public Policy area, and K V V Raghavan and Sonal Nayak of the Strategy area.
PhD Student Academic Committee (SAC)
The outgoing PhD Student Academic Committee (2022-23) members were thanked and received certificates. They include Abhishek Bhattacharjee, Biswapriya Saha, Akash Sharma and Anuradha Sharma.
The new PhD Student Academic Committee (2023-24) members were welcomed, and they include Ganesh J, Kalaga Venkata Laxmana Tejaswi, Mir Autif Mohammad and Shiril Saju.
