Centre for Teaching and Learning conducts 10th edition of its Doctoral Consortium on Teaching

Future faculty members from leading management schools receive hands-on training from IIMB’s experts

27 January, 2025, Bengaluru: This January, the Centre for Teaching and Learning successfully conducted its 9th and 10th editions of the Doctoral Consortium on Teaching at IIMB. The cohort comprised 67 senior doctoral scholars from IIM Bangalore and other institutes including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Mumbai, IIM Trichy, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IRM Anand, XLRI Jamshedpur, ISB Hyderabad, MAHE Manipal, University of Hyderabad, Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship JNU, and Krea University.

The program was thoughtfully designed to prepare future faculty members for the challenges of academia. The topics covered, included- ‘Case Teaching Methodology’, ‘Drivers of Learning’, ‘Enhanced Learning Experience through Technology’, ‘Lecture-based Approach of Teaching’, ‘Teaching Quants’, ‘Experiential Learning’, ‘Classroom Management’, ‘Designing MOOCs’, and ‘Promoting Diversity and Inclusivity’. Insights from IIMB faculty members on Course Design, Preparing for the Academic Job Talk, and Navigating the Transition into Academia added practical value to the discussions.

An important component of the consortium was the Teaching Practicum that provided the participants with an opportunity to take a class on their chosen topic and receive constructive feedback on delivering sessions effectively by faculty observers and mentors.
